As we celebrate our bicentenary year in 2024, we are delighted to relaunch the Angostura® Global Cocktail Challenge. This marks the beginning of a new dialogue with the bartending community as we search for the next generation of champions worldwide.

Our theme for this year's challenge is... A journey through time... a celebration of 200 years of Angostura, bartending and classic cocktails.

CHOCOLATE CHERRY RUM TRUFFLES.

Infused with aromatic botanicals, ANGOSTURA® Cocoa Bitters is rich, ...floral and nutty, pairing perfectly with the depth and complexity of ANGOSTURA® 7-year-old rum, which is Packed with mouth-watering flavour notes that include maple, honey, and toffee, it rich, full-bodied taste perfect for cocktails and even deserts such as these.

180g dark chocolate
180g milk chocolate
60g dried chopped cherries
80ml thickened (heavy) cream
60g chopped dried cherries
30ml ANGOSTURA® 7 Year Old Rum
30ml Cherry Liqueur
6 dashes ANGOSTURA® Cocoa Bitters

200g dark chocolate for dipping truffles

Combine the dark and milk chocolates and cream in a glass bowl. Place the bowl over a bain maries and allow the chocolate to melt. Remove the bowl from the simmering water and add the chopped cherries, rum, cherry liqueur, and cocoa bitters. Stir to mix everything well, then set in the fridge for a few hours or until the mixture is firm enough to roll into balls.

Using a glove, use a teaspoon amount of truffle mixture to roll into balls (this part can be a little messy but its’ worth it)! Transfer back to the fridge to firm again.

Melt the dark chocolate, then use a skewer to pierce truffles and dip into the melted chocolates; transfer to a tray lined with baking paper and allow to set completely before enjoying.
